Accademia Amsterdam was founded by oboist and recorder player Onno Verschoor in 1990. The ensemble has a stable kernel of string-players, woodwinds and continuo. We focus on performing Baroque and Classical music from chamber music to oratorios. Music from Middle-Ages and Renaissance form part of our repertoire. We often combine modern and ethnic music in our concert programmes.
Our philosophy is to transmit a full experience of expression and liveliness. We achieve this by collaborating and communicating with co-performers and the public.
But we do more. Educational activities, like courses, masterclasses and workshops, strengthen our philosophy. We collaborate with third parties like choirs and educational institutions. Regularly, we initiate and organise own projects.
Accademia Amsterdam has an international focus. We work in the European Union, concentrated in The Netherlands, Italy and Germany.

As specialists in performing on period instruments, we certainly do not refuse to play other styles as well. Especially our educational activities are open to a wide range of tastes and styles. We love to make connections with other disciplines in the arts.
