Enjoy music, dance, cooking and arts in Italy!

Dear Visitor,

Our summer courses are still open for subscription. Enjoy your active holiday in Perugia and/or invite friends who deserve an unforgettable experience: the connection between the music, arts, the Italian kitchen and the inspiring environment, and the interaction between 'locals' and the participants. This year we especially welcome choir singers.

We are happy to announce the release of a new CD with chamber music by Bach, Telemann and Krebs. Artistic director of Accademia Amsterdam, Onno Verschoor, recorded it together with organist of the Grote Kerk in Dordrecht, Cor Ardesch. The Bach organ has a colourful role here in duets with oboe or flute. You can listen to fragments and order the cd on our website.

Summer Courses “Feste Veneziane”

Be inspired by the cheerfulness of beautiful Venice and sign up for our summer courses in Perugia (central Italy), or make someone happy by forwarding this email.

Thanks to the passionate support of local organizations, including the municipalities of Perugia and Deruta, we are confident that we can safely organize our summer courses. The Archaeological Museum in Perugia welcomes us this year in the beautiful monastery in which it is located. We can hardly imagine a more suitable environment. This year the courses will take place in early July as summer temperatures will be slightly cooler. The traditional performances of the teachers and of the participants take place in the monumental museum building or in an enchanting location in Perugia. The festive closing performance will take place in the historic ceramic city of Deruta.

We organise side courses Painting & Drawing and Italian Cooking for friends, family members and all interested people. This year we especially invite choir singers to join the choir.

Performance “Triumph of the Muses”

Over the centuries, music has played a major role in making the fear and uncertainty of epidemics more bearable. Accademia Amsterdam initiates a project with comforting music by Charpentier, combined with light-footed fragments from Dante's story “Decamerone”. The main work on the programme is “Pestis Mediolanensis”, translated as the Plague of Milan, of Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643-1704). This oratorio describes the misery but also the gratitude for the disappearance of the disease.
The concert will take place on June 18.

New CD: the Bach-organ in Chamber Music

Artistic director of Accademia Amsterdam Onno Verschoor, “camped” for three days last autumn in a cold church: the Grote Kerk in Dordrecht. Together with city organist Cor Ardesch he recorded a special CD, in which the organ is assigned a role as a chamber music instrument.
In music by Bach, Telemann and Bach's colleague Krebs, the richness of sound of the organ is fully explored. In an intimate way it mixes and competes with the oboe, the oboe d'amore and the flute.

Dream Course Singing in Italy - very much appreciated

16 Friends stayed in the "borgo" of the arts, Deruta (Umbria), to sing and enjoy the good life. Our Italian singing coach prepared and rehearsed music by Italian composers with them. At the end of the week there was a casual performance in an inspiring historic location. We organized trips to Perugia and Lake Trasimeno as a welcome extra, and the sporty singers could hike in the surroundings or join an excursion on e-bikes. Lovers of the Italian cuisine took cooking classes with an Italian "mamma". A common closing buffet on the “piazza” completed the week.
