Following our successful concerts during the Destin Musical Cruises in 2022 and 2024, cruise guests can once again listen to Accademia Amsterdam, this time in France during a Christmas Cruise over the river Seine. Famous soprano Johannette Zomer will join us again.

During the 2024 Summer Cruise, the ensemble could be heard in Zeeland, with Handel's motet “Silete Venti,” and the wedding cantata “Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten” by Bach. As an intermezzo, we performed an exuberant double concerto for flute and bassoon by Telemann. Accademia Amsterdam is led by oboist and recorder player Onno Verschoor, who also accompanies musical trips as a tour guide with Destin Music Travels.

This programme brings the listeners back to the Baroque era, so rich with iconic Christmas music. Who doesn't know Bach's Christmas Oratorio and the oratorio about the life of Jesus: "The Messiah" by Handel?

Since the cruise follows the river Seine up to the city of Rouen, Christmas "Noëls" will emphasis the fact that we are in France and add to a "French Christmas Atmosphere". Famous chorals by Bach and Christmas songs can be sung along for who wants.

Instrumental pastoral "shepherd" music will add to the Christmas mood.
